cc_logoMotion comics have hit the big time. Many of the major players in the comics industry now have a stake in this format, which has imparted significant extra momentum to the move towards digital distribution. Warner Premiere has led the charge with Watchmen and has expanded their slate this year with Superman: Red Son and other titles. Marvel is bringing Spider-Woman and the Astonishing X-Men to the format.

I’ll be at the San Diego Comic-Con today (Friday 7/24) showing off Ruben & Lullaby as a taste of what’s to come for this format. No motion comic to date has used interactivity to affect the emotions of the characters, the melodies in the score, or the outcome of the story—all of which happen in Ruben & Lullaby. When digital comics take interactivity seriously, all kinds of amazing work becomes possible.

  1. Ezra says:

Man, I wish I could be there… It’s nice to know I’ll be represented, though! Here’s hoping the crowd will be receptive (is there an emoticon for fingers crossed?).
